Social Entrepreneurship from a Kaleidoscope

An article in The Philanthropist – a quarterly journal for those engaged in the nonprofit sector in Canada – called “A Kaleidoscope of Innovation: Designing Community Impact in the Waterloo Region (PDF)” inspired thoughts on change, social innovation, and social entrepreneurship.
This article recharged my belief that a blurred line exists between sectors and organizations need to step outside their silos and work towards a collaborative environment to create social change. However, the betterment of communities will not happen immediately; it will take inspiration and leadership.
This systems design approach to community innovation will allow for improved effectiveness by combining resources, energy, and determination. Silos and barriers are both contrived and feared; this article inspires me to become the social innovator in my area.
I have a passion to advocate for change and improvements in the community. Thankfully, my career will allow me to take these lessons and implement them into a planning process as I move forward.
